9 Hole Proposal

The Future Of Beith Golf Club - 25th November 2017

As you will have heard, the future of Beith Golf Club is under consideration.

It is patently obvious that today's financial climate and the current appeal of golf to the younger generations in general is proving to be a challenge for many clubs in the U.K. and beyond to attract new, longer term members.

Without members, clubs like ours will close eventually, which will mean many players lost to the game forever.

Their willingness, or lack of, to travel further to play on courses at inconvenient times will possibly mean a value judgement will be made, and that could mean that they will just pay to play, on nice days, less times per year, and the spiral of player loss will continue.

As it stands Beith is going to revert to its original 9 hole format, as costings have shown that it is feasible that we can run this with 80 members.

80 members have indicated they are willing to stay, and the other members who have not expressed a preference will be approached in the near future.

A Q&A section will be available, and hopefully that will clear up the most common concerns which have been expressed.
